What types of bollard light are there?

An Artay bollard light is an aluminium extrusion bollard, 30 to 120 cm tall, rated IP66, with an 8 to 20 W LED and an opal PMMA diffuser. Artay has manufactured outdoor lighting in Istanbul since 1999, with its own die-casting foundry, and exports to more than 33 countries. Bollard lights differ mainly in the head: a flat top pushes light down onto the path, a dual head washes both sides, and a round head spreads light 360 degrees.

Is a bollard light the same as a security bollard?

No, and the two are often confused because they share the word bollard. A bollard light — also called a lighting bollard or pathway bollard — is a luminaire: an aluminium body 30 to 120 cm tall with an 8 to 20 W LED inside, made to light a path, a garden, a car park edge or a hotel entrance. A security bollard is a traffic barrier: a steel post, often fixed, removable or hydraulically rising, designed to stop or guide vehicles. We manufacture lighting bollards only; we do not make security, rising or anti-ram bollards. If a project needs both, the lighting bollards can be placed between the barriers so the line stays visually consistent after dark.

Why are bollard lights aluminium and not galvanized steel?

At bollard height the surface is within reach of shoes, trolleys, road salt and mowers, so the coating takes daily abuse. Aluminium does not depend on a sacrificial zinc layer to resist corrosion, which is why our bollards are aluminium extrusion with a chromate pre-treatment and powder coating rather than galvanized steel.

Is the wood-look series real wood?

No. The Aethel series has an aluminium extrusion body and the wood appearance comes from the surface finish. It does not rot beside water and needs no annual treatment, unlike a real timber bollard.

Can I get a matching pole in the same design?

Yes. The Monument, Pisa, Saturn and Aethel families include both bollards and poles, so a path and the square beside it can be lit in one design language. The poles are shown in the urban lighting pole range, and structural requirements are covered in our EN 40 lighting column standards guide.

What are the lead times and minimum order?

Standard catalogue models ship in 3–4 weeks depending on quantity, with no minimum order. Height and RAL colour are adapted to the project at no extra tooling. A new body shape needs its own mould, from 4,000 to 50,000 USD depending on part size, with a minimum order of 1,000–2,000 pieces. Quality management is certified to ISO 9001 and products carry CE marking.
